A chlorine smell appeared in my hot water after the installation of a powered anode, what should I do?

A water softener that is not properly adjusted allows extra salt to flow through the pipes and / or into your water heater. The current sent by the powered anode will turn a part of the excess of salt into chlorine and a smell will occur. This will mean that your softener must be readjusted!

How is it possible?
Chlorine is produced by passing an electric current through a solution of brine (common salt dissolved in water). This process is called electrolysis.
