The Solution: Using a “Wye” Fitting

To install a powered anode rod without affecting the hot water flow, you need a union piece called a “wye” fitting. This fitting is designed to shift the outlet to the side, creating space for the rod inside the tank.

The installation of the powered anode rod with the wye fitting should help significantly reduce corrosion, increase the lifespan of your hot water heater, and improve the quality of your hot water.

Bradford White* Water Heaters

Most Bradford White water heaters are known for their unique design, where the anode rod is built into the hot water outlet. This integrated design makes replacing the standard anode rod with a powered anode rod more complex. However, with the right tools and understanding of the process, you can install a powered anode rod in your Bradford White water heater.
